Hippias (architect)
Hippias ( ancient Greek Ἱππίας ) was a 2nd century Greek architect .
He is mentioned in the work published under the name of Lukians Hippias or the bath ( Ἱππίας ἢ Βαλανεῖον , "Hippias e balaneion"), in which he appears as a contemporary of Lukians (about 120-180). He is presented as the architect of the thermal baths described there, but it is only presented superficially without going into technical details. According to the scriptures, Hippias was not only an architect, he also emerged as a mechanic, musician, astronomer, geometer and rhetorician.
