Remarks

The waltz shepherd games and the history of its origins pose some puzzles for the musicologist. We know next to nothing about the history of its origins. The date and place of the premiere are also not known. The waltz was first mentioned in the press in the fall of 1851 and in September of the same year it was part of Strauss' program at a concert in Pavlosk, Russia. Possibly the premiere took place on December 31, 1850 in the dance hall Zum Sperl as part of a New Year's Eve celebration and was announced as Christmas tree gifts every three quarters .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 10 minutes and 48 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
