His Best is a compilation album by Bo Diddley , released in 1997 as part of the MCA / Chess ' 50th Anniversary series and reissued by Geffen Records in 2007 as the "Definite Collection".

General

Since most of the hit collections and anthologies were no longer published and the Bo Diddley Box is too expensive for most, MCA took the opportunity of the Chess anniversary and released a CD with 20 of Diddley's Chess hits. Like all the other CDs in the series, the result is outstanding. It contains all of the musician's most important songs from "I'm a Man" to "Roadrunner" to "You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover" and includes all of his songs that contributed to the formation of the rock and roll genre. The recordings were digitally edited by Erick Labson at MCA Music Media Studios, North Hollywood, California and both AMG and CD Universe mention the excellent work. The recordings were selected in chronological order.

The album reached number 2 on the Billboards Top Blues Albums chart when it was reissued in 2007.

Criticism

  • Amazon (Editorial Review by Rickey Wright): Great! (Great!)
  • AMG Cub Koda: If the box set is too big a trigger to pull and you want all of Bo's influential sides in one package, this one should be first-stop shopping of the highest priority. (If the box set is too big for you and still wants all the influential songs on one CD, this should be the purchase with the highest priority.)
