from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A histological section is a very thin layer or slice of organic tissue that has been separated using a special tool ( microtome ) . It is used for analysis under the microscope . Such cuts can be made from tissue hardened by freezing ( rapid cut ) or tissue fixed after embedding in paraffin or other plastic; they are usually colored with special dyes.
