The Historical Yearbook of Linz is a journal for the study of Linz city's history and the archive of Linz issued.

The Historical Yearbook of the City of Linz evolved from the “Year Book of the City of Linz” published annually from 1935 to 1954. In addition to reports on the cultural life of the city of Linz, contributions to the history of the city were constantly published in this publication. The years 1937 to 1949 represented time interruptions. As a result of the division in 1955 into a “Historical Yearbook of the City of Linz” and a publication with a focus on natural history, urban history research was given its own journal. Since then, the editorial department has been with the Archives of the City of Linz. After predecessors in 2001 and 2002, subject volumes have been published since 2004 in place of the previous anthologies. The main focus has shifted in recent years to contemporary history research with a focus on National Socialism and the First Republic .

Thanks to the approval of the Linz City Archives, the years 1935–1936 and 1949–2003 / 04 are available online for purely scientific, non-commercial use.
