Hjörsey is an uninhabited island in Faxaflói in western Iceland .
With an area of 5.5 km², Hjörsey is the third largest island in Iceland and rises up to 12 meters above sea level. The island is 20 kilometers west of the town of Borgarnes and 3 kilometers off the coast. At low tide , a slope leads from Hjörsey via the neighboring island of Hjörseyjarsandur to Hraunhreppsvegur, road 540. This island used to be inhabited and a source of income was the driftwood .
