Hochlarer nativity play

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hochlarer nativity play is presented annually by the Recklinghäuser organized transport and Beautification Association Hochlar (in the district Hochlar).

It always takes place at the Remise on Unterstrasse in the old, historic town center. There is an open stable that represents the birthplace of Jesus. According to the well-known Christmas story , Maria and Joseph do not find accommodation in any inn and are referred to a stable. This is staged in Hochlar every year on the third Sunday in Advent. Particular attention was paid to the detailed design of the area around the stable and the special atmosphere.

In addition to Christmas carols, the entire game is performed by amateur actors. The environment is designed as lifelike as possible by using sheep, donkeys and oxen as living props. In the meantime, the grandstands that have been set up are no longer able to cope with the rush. An enlargement of the event area is not possible due to the limited local conditions. Therefore, in addition to the two usual shows, a third one was introduced, starting at 3:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

To round it off, there is a small Christmas market every year. The costs incurred are covered by donations.
