The university on Gotland (Swedish: Högskolan på Gotland ) was a university of applied sciences founded in 1998 in Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea . Gotland has had a college since the 1970s, but not a separate college.
On July 1, 2013, the Gotland University was closed as an independent educational institution and merged with Uppsala University . Since then, the former university has been run as the Uppsala universitet Campus Gotland .
The building is located between the present and the medieval (Almedalen) port of Visby. There are 20 departments at the university, which together offer 14 Bachelor and 5 Master’s courses. Only the department for computer game design ( Institutions för speldesign ) is based exclusively in Visby, all others are spread over Uppsala and Visby. The university has a total of 6,000 students, including 2,100 full-time students, and 1,800 employees.
