The Hockey Europe is a company incorporated in October 2008 unification of the seven most central and northern European Hockey - professional leagues .

target

The aim of the association is to create friendly relationships with one another and to support the marketing of professional hockey in Europe. In particular, common interests are to be represented vis-à-vis the North American National Hockey League (NHL) and the Russian Continental Hockey League (KHL). Before the 2008/09 season , there had been conflicts between the KHL, NHL and the member leagues of Hockey Europe. Since there is currently no transfer agreement between the leagues, several players moved to the newly founded KHL and the NHL despite ongoing contracts. In addition, both KHL and NHL plan to expand into Central Europe.

Legal form and seat

Hockey Europe has the legal form of a European Economic Interest Grouping and thus also acts as a lobby group for the European Union (EU). Since Switzerland is not a member of the EU, the Swiss NLA is officially an associated member, but has the same rights as the other members. The seat of the association is Cologne .

organs

Hockey Europe is run by an honorary president. The office changes annually between the member leagues. The current official is Christian Feichtinger , league manager of the Austrian Erste Bank Eishockey Liga .
