Field of activity

History group

The company was founded in 1890 by Eduard Johann Hoffmann and initially produced carton and metal cartridge loaders for a new infantry rifle for the Swiss Army on behalf of the federal government. After the Eidgenössische Munitionsfabrik began to produce the boxes itself, Hoffmann switched to the manufacture of cardboard and metal packaging as well as tin cans.

In 1934, the company, now in its second generation, acquired the majority of shares in AG Union (later Neopac AG) in Oberdiessbach, which specializes in the manufacture of metal packaging . This began in 1954 with the production of plastic tubes. From 1982 Neopac concentrated on the production of polyfoil tubes and stopped producing other packaging.

1998 a realignment of the assortment policy were in the course Gebr. Hoffmann AG and Neopac AG for Hoffmann Neopac AG merged and the two divisions Hoffmann Packaging Solutions (metal packaging) and Neopac Packaging Solutions formed (for Polyfoil- and plastic tubes). For better differentiation on the market, the Packaging Solutions logo in the logos was replaced by Hoffmann The Tin and Neopac The Tube in 2008 .

History of Neopac

With the invention of the Polyfoil® Tube in 1965, Neopac took a big step towards differentiating itself in the niche market from conventional tubes. The barrier and aesthetics of the tube packaging are still the company's strategic focus today. Neopac has developed into one of Europe's leading tube manufacturers with a wide range of products and a high degree of flexibility in order to respond to trends and market needs. In the 80s, Neopac strived for internationalization and gained licensees in the USA and Korea. In the early 1990s, Neopac worked with a customer to draw up an eco-balance for tubes. In the last decade, Neopac focused primarily on convenience with new tube applicators and customer-specific developments for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and dental industries. From 2005 Neopac achieved another milestone. It set a new standard for the tube industry: the highest possible quality and safety in production thanks to pharmaceutical clean rooms on dedicated lines.
