history

In 1934, Karl Hofmann took over the Hofer book printing company in Schorndorf, Baden-Württemberg, and from then on ran the business under the Karl Hofmann printing company. In the 1950s the business was expanded to include a publishing house. For this purpose, the property in Schorndorf was acquired in 1953, which is still the headquarters of the publishing house today.

Since 1994, the publisher has awarded the Karl Hofmann Prize for Dissertations , a sponsorship award for doctoral theses in sports science, which is endowed with € 1,500 (as of 2017).

Since 1991 Hofmann-Verlag has published the monthly magazine Sportunterricht , the official organ of the German Association of Sports Teachers.
