After the song was released as the third single of their debut album in August 1986, the song, like its predecessor, only reached middle placements in the charts. In the United Kingdom the song reached number 26, in Germany number 31 and in Switzerland number 24. In the United States and Austria, the song did not enter the charts.
Hold On Tight is a classic rockabilly title. The late 80's saw a new interest in the retro - pop culture of the 50s, preferably by the movie Back to the Future , because after its publication had increased rock songs success in the charts than in the first half of the decade. The electric guitar and backbeat used in the song are heavily influenced by the rock and roll sound of the 50s.

The music video refers to rockabilly culture and shows Samantha Fox in a restaurant, wearing a ponytail , a bra shirt, short, tight denim hot pants and cowboy boots . At the beginning Samantha puts her record in the jukebox , then she leaves the restaurant for a short time and changes clothes, when she comes back in, she wears a Franses red leather dress. When she starts singing Hold On Tight , Fox dances with teenagers wearing their school clothes styled in 1950s fashion.
