List of nodes

The Honda node (Honda Spanish: loop) is used for tying the eye in the lasso -Schlinge. It is based on the "bowstring knot" with an additional overhand knot as a safety device. The word is derived from the Mexican noun "hondilla", which means "slingshot", "twilight" or "little noose".

application

Cowboy & Lasso

The lasso knot is used by cowboys to lasso cattle and horses. It is used to create a fixed eye at one end of the rope. The rope, usually made of rawhide , is put through this eye to form the lasso loop. It is crucial that the eye is as round as possible so that the rope glides through easily and the loop can easily be pulled. The diameter of the eye is the size of a ring made from the index finger and thumb. The noose has a diameter of about 1.5 m when it is thrown.

Modifications

With the arbor knot , an overhand knot is tied around the rope and then a second overhand knot is attached to the end as a safety device (lock). (The loop then goes through the overhand knot.)
