The Hondsrug , also known as the Drenthe Elevation , is the name of a mountain range up to 26 meters high in the Dutch provinces of Groningen and Drenthe .

It is a sandy elevation in the middle of the formerly extensive Bourtanger Moor , which stretches from the "Drentschen Plateau" to the " Hogeland " and was the only connection between these two areas in earlier times.
