Hong Gou Canal

Probably from the 6th century BC. The Hong Gou Canal (also known as Hong Gou or Hong Canal) in China was the first man-made waterway in East Asia and is one of the oldest water canals in the world. It is even older than the one in the 4th century BC. Imperial canal originated in BC .

The canal connected the Yellow River and the Huai He and was the largest canal in the world until the Imperial Canal was built. Until the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) it was used for shipping purposes.
