history
In 1703 Hongler was first mentioned in the account book of the parish of Berneck SG . The company history of the candle factory is closely linked to the church. The production of liturgical candles is a specialty of the company to this day. While most candles are made from paraffin or stearin, liturgical candles must have a guaranteed minimum proportion (55 percent in Switzerland) of beeswax . Next also be altar - and Easter candles and a wide range of modern candles manufactured.
In 2002 Hans Hongler AG was renamed Hongler Wachswaren AG, in 2005 the manufacture moved into its new, modern production facility on Bahnhofstrasse in Altstätten and in 2010 the name was changed to Hongler Kerzen AG. The company has its own shop at the production site, where the candles it produces are sold. A Christmas exhibition is shown in the company every year from November .
