Hopton Hall is an 18th century country house in Hopton, Derbyshire, England . The building is on the UK Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest .

The Gell family owned extensive estates in Derbyshire as early as the 14th century . In what is now Hopton, Thomas Gell had an Elizabethan mansion built in the 16th century . The building that gave the place its name was and is surrounded by a spacious park. Under John Gell the house was expanded and rebuilt. He also expanded the garden and built a summer house on the property. Two pavilions were added in the early 20th century .

A few years ago the property was completely renovated and sold for £ 4.2 million .
