Pants (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The trousers , also called panties , were a trading weight for butter in the Kingdom of Saxony and were also known as the “Leipzig” trading weight.

Whole and half trousers were used for the calculation. A whole pair of trousers was 12 pots or 48 pans.

Well was the term for a piece of butter weighing 16 plots. There were also pieces with a weight of only 14, or 18 or 22 plumb bobs . A whole pair of pants was calculated at 24  pounds , the half pants at 12.

The weighing of the wooden barrel when it was sold was an idiosyncrasy.
