The Sheraton Tirana Hotel is a hotel opened in 2003 in the center of the Albanian capital Tirana , which was operated by the Sheraton Group until the end of 2017 . Today it is called Mak Albania Hotel .

A shopping arcade with a cinema is also located in the same building complex.

The hotel is located on the northern edge of the Great Park of Tirana at Italia-Platz. Neighboring buildings are the Qemal Stafa Stadium , which is currently under renovation, in the north, the main building of the University of Tirana in the west and the Archaeological Museum in the northwest. There are also individual apartment blocks to the east.

Furnishing

The hotel was one of the better hotels in town and has 151 rooms. It had a swimming pool, bars, a restaurant, a fitness center, a Thai massage area and conference rooms with a total capacity of around 500 seats. The building has eight floors and is around 30 meters high.

Closure in 2017

Since the Marriott Group, as the operator of the hotel, and Mak Albania, as the owner and builder of the building complex, could not agree on an extension of the lease, the Sheraton Hotel was closed at the end of 2017. Mak Albania wants to sell the building. Marriott complained that the quality of the building no longer met the requirements for a Sheraton.

In March 2018, the sale of the hotel to the Kastrati company for € 30 million was announced.
