It was founded in 1985 and currently consists of Liam Ó Maonlaí (vocals, guitar, piano), Peter O'Toole (bass), Fiachna Ó Braonáin (guitar) and Dave Clarke (drums). Musically, Hothouse Flowers maintains a mix of rock and soul styles .
Her first album People reached number 2 on the UK album charts and number 1 on the Irish charts. It is considered the most successful debut album by an Irish band.
