L'Avion (trading name of Elysair ) was a French airline based in Paris and based at Paris-Orly Airport .

history

In 2002 the Frenchman Franz Yvelin came up with the idea of founding an airline for long-haul flights with a pure business class cabin . However, until the plan was implemented, it took until July 2006, when a Boeing 757-200 , which was previously in operation at Condor , could be leased with the support of Lufthansa . Shortly afterwards, another aircraft of this type from Shanghai Airlines' inventory was added. The aircraft were equipped with only 90 instead of the usual more than 200 passenger seats.

In the spring of 2008, L'Avion signed a code share agreement with British Airways . On July 2, 2008, British Airways announced the purchase of L'Avion. The company was finally integrated into the British Airways subsidiary OpenSkies in April 2009 , which pursues the same business concept and also operates the same flight route. She also took over the fleet of L'Avion.

Franz Yvelin founded La Compagnie in 2013 , which successfully began flight operations in 2014 on the same route with the same type of aircraft in a pure business class configuration.

Destinations

L'Avion's only route connected Paris-Orly Airport with Newark, west of New York City .
