House on the Rock
House on the Rock (dt. House on the rock ) is the name of a building complex with architecturally unique rooms, streets, gardens and shops in Spring Green ( Wisconsin , USA ).
Construction of the actual house began on Deer Shelter Rock in the 1940s . Over the years, various extensions have been added to the building and gradually enlarged. Themes were assigned to the various rooms and some of them were furnished in a very bizarre way, which made the house an increasingly popular tourist attraction.
Today the House on the Rock is known for various extraordinary spaces.
- The Infinity Room (dt. Space of infinity ) - an almost 70-meter long passage with over 3000 windows which projects without supporting pillars of the building complex
- A room called The Heritage of the Sea (dt. The heritage of the sea ) - where between nautical exhibits a model of a fight between a walähnlichen 60-meter sea monster and an Octopus shows. A jukebox with a small octopus plays the Beatles song Octopus's Garden
- A room called The Music of Yesterday (dt. The music of yesterday ), in which a huge collection contained music machines.
- One of the main attractions is the carousel with its 20,000 lightbulbs and 269 wooden figures, among which there is not a single horse. Its value is estimated at $ 4.5 million.
