The English term hubodometer (German hub odometer ) denotes a distance counter that measures the effective mileage of semi-trailers , trailers , wheels , brakes , wheel bearings , etc. independently of the towing vehicle . In the case of semi-trailers, it is mounted on a non-liftable axle.

principle

The hubodometer has an eccentric weight, which is approximately vertical due to gravity and does not rotate with the axis. In this way, the revolutions of the wheel can be measured without a direct connection to the frame and transferred to a mechanical counter, which indicates the mileage in kilometers.
