Swivel seat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A swivel seat is a car seat in a passenger car that can be swiveled out through the door opening to facilitate entry and exit. The user can sit on or stand up in the direction of the center line of the seat instead of sideways. Due to the position of the swiveled-out seat partially outside the door opening, there is often no need to bend down when getting in and out.

This seat is particularly suitable for use by physically handicapped and less mobile people due to age. It is usually retrofitted as part of vehicle retrofitting for physically handicapped people .

Additional devices on a swivel seat can enable further pulling out over the door sill and a lifting function. An electric motor or hydraulic drive can provide further relief.
