Hug stacker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hug Schapler is one of four prose translations of French chansons de geste that Elisabeth of Lorraine made around 1437. The late medieval chivalric novel contains the fabulous story of Hugo Capet , the founder of the Capetian dynasty , who appears as the descendant of a butcher and who ultimately wins the royal throne through bravery. Elisabeth's translation first appeared in print in Strasbourg in 1500. The last version of the edition was published in Nuremberg in 1794 under the title Von dem arbid Helden Hugo Capet .
