Huit monologues de femmes

Huit monologues de femmes (2003) is a prose work by the Tajik writer and playwright Barzou Abdourazzoqov ( Tajik Барзу Абдураззоқов), which was first published in French in 2007 in French translation from Russian (Tajikistan) by Zulma in Paris.

The original title is Исповедь (in German confession) in Russian and Stephan A. Dudoignon translated it.

When published in Tajikistan, the "Monologues" were a clear success.

In the meantime, three editions have been published in French (2007, 2013 and 2018) and there is a staged performance at the Péniche Théâtre Story-Boat ( Conflans-Sainte-Honorine ) with Dominique Deschaintres and Joëlle Nacmias and directed by Olivier H'Small Title "Borderline" given (2014).

The sections and their speakers

The eight short monologues are between three and eight pages long (around 280 words per page) and together make up 52 pages.

I. Woman with two almost adult children, whose husband leaves her without a trace (7 pages)

II. Woman with husband and "cousin" (4 pages)

III. Adolescent who leaves after rape and unwanted pregnancy and changes their identity (6 pages)

IV. Ecology lecturer who falls in love with one of her students, who then presents his ethics to her subject (7 pages)

V. Beggar trying to support herself and two children (3 pages)

VI. Public servant, workaholic in high position who has her husband's young lover put in prison (8 pages)

VII. Prostitute thinking about the power of her profession (4 pages)

VIII. Mother of a daughter who has disappeared for two years (4 pages)
