Emil Edvard von Rothstein (born November 1, 1821 in Erikssund , † November 29, 1890 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish architect .

Rothstein graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and studied 1843–1845 in Hamburg and 1845–1848 at the Bauakademie in Berlin. In 1844 he was employed by the Hamburg building department as a draftsman for waterworks. From 1849 to 1875 he worked as a labor manager for Stockholm's waterworks, making drawings and suggestions for the Karlberg Canal, the Blasieholmen wharf , Strandwege, Vasabron Bridge and the Veterinary Institute building . He was also a teacher for house building at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1853, deputy board member of Nitroglycerin AB , founded by Alfred Nobel, auditor from 1866, but left the company in 1867. In 1871 he became professor of architecture.

The planned and built church buildings include, for example: Fotskäls kyrka , Kalls kyrka , Sjögestads kyrka , Södervidinge kyrka , Tryde kyrka , Vederslövs nya kyrka , Ytterby kyrka , Värö kyrka , Ås kyrka , Ödsmåls kyrka och Österpl .
