Hwajeon with rhododendron

Hwajeon ( Kor.  화전 , Hanja  花 煎 ) is a traditional Korean food . It consists mainly of rice flour, which is processed into rice cake ( tteok ) and then fried as a pancake in the pan. These pancakes are then decorated with an edible flower (usually chrysanthemums or rhododendrons ) that is fried with them. Hwajeon are often eaten at the Spring Festival or the Autumn Festival, although of course only autumn flowers are on the cake at the Autumn Festival.
