HyFish

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The HyFish is an unmanned test aircraft from DLR with an electric drive and energy supply from a fuel cell . It represents the first practical implementation of the Smartfish concept developed by the Swiss Konrad Schafroth .

The first flight of the 1.2 m long, 6 kg heavy and impeller- driven model took place in March 2007 near Bern . The polymer electrolyte fuel cell generates 1 kW of electrical power and has a total mass of only 3 kg (including hydrogen supply ). The pressure tank holds 200 l, which enables a theoretical flight time of 15 minutes. The aim of the development was to show the efficiency and possible uses of fuel cells.
