Hydrathlon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hydrathlon (from the Greek hydro = water) is a multidisciplinary sport in the endurance area such as quadrathlon , triathlon and canoe triathlon .

Basics

The hydrathlon consists of three disciplines:

The hydrathlon thus consists of two water disciplines and one land discipline. It is therefore - in contrast to the triathlon (SRL) or canoe triathlon (LRK), which are completed twice on land and only once in water - " water dominant ".

The hydrathlon is a related or associated sport to the quadrathlon as part of the Quadrathlon Alliance Germany (QUAD). The Hydrathlon was developed by Joachim Neusser (President of QUAD, the Federal Association for the Quadrathlon Sport). There are currently no championships in the hydrathlon.

Distances

The hydrathlon standard distances are:

Distances swim (Long) run Kayak (canoe)
sprint 1 km 5 km 5 km
Short 2.5 km 10 km 10 km
Long 5 km 20 km 21 km

Type of boat : Instead of a kayak, Canadians are also permitted as a boat shape (Canadians are driven with single paddles, kayaks with double paddles). For the hydrathlon, the Quadrathlon rules also apply analogously.

Syn : Aquathlon can also be used as a synonym for hydrathlon; however, this term has already been used for the combination of swimming and running.
