Canoe all-around

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The first canoe all-around competitions already took place in the 1930s . Since 1996 'canoe competition' and 'canoe triathlon' have also been official DKV disciplines.

Canoe fighting has a very long tradition, especially in East Germany. In the canoe all-around competition, in contrast to most other eventing competitions, the various disciplines are not completed directly one after the other. The typical disciplines in today's canoe competition are: time trial (500 m), paddle paddling (250 m), slalom, running (1000 m) and swimming (50 m).

In the canoe triathlon, the different disciplines are completed one after the other. Based on the triathlon , the disciplines include : paddling , cycling , running . The order of the disciplines is left to the organizer. The options are: canoe duathlon (running, paddling, running) or canoe quadrathlon (e.g. paddling, running, cycling, inline skating ), or hydrathlon (swimming, running, kayaking).

Both forms of this eventing event are designed for kayaks. Although there are no fixed guidelines in canoe triathlon, a canoe is rarely used.
