Iñaki Irazabalbeitia Fernández (born August 1, 1957 in Donostia-San Sebastián ) is a Basque politician of the Aralar .

Life

During his studies, he worked as a research assistant in chemistry at the University of the Basque Country . In this subject he first received a diploma, later followed by his doctorate. Afterwards he was editor of the journal Elhuyar Zientzia Eta Teknologia and the Encyclopedia Elhuyar , later he belonged to the department of lexicography there. From 1996 to 2003 he was Managing Director and General Manager of Elhuyar . After a short period as director of the IMH engineering school, he held the position of managing director of Eleka Ingeniaritza Linguistikoa from 2006 to 2011 . In addition, he has been a corresponding member of the Real Academia de la Lengua Vasca since 2003.

For some time he was Deputy General Coordinator with his Aralar party. In 2011 he moved to the Tolosa City Council . On July 11, 2013, he moved to the European Parliament as part of a rotation principle for the resigned Ana Miranda Paz . In doing so, he became a member of the Committee on Petitions, the Committee on Regional Development and the delegations for relations with Mercosur and the mixed parliamentary assembly between the European Union and South America .
