Ičkos House ( Serbian Ичкова кућа Ičkova kuća ) is a cultural monument in Belgrade and is located in Zemun at 18 Bežanijska Street.

description

Ičko's house was built in 1793. It consists of a basement, a ground floor and partly a second floor, formed by a high gable roof with dormers. The classicistic two- wing building consists of the Kafana "Marko Kraljević" on the ground floor, while the first floor was used for living. Over time it was repaired. A complete reconstruction and revitalization took place in the 1980s. The building represents a town house at the end of the eighteenth century.

Its name goes back to the rebel diplomat and businessman Peter Ičko who lived here and who had to flee Belgrade after the introduction of the Dahija regime and moved to the neighboring Zemun, which belongs to the Kingdom of Hungary . Ičko played an important role in the preparation of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804 . Petar Ičko was a trade diplomat and mediator between traders from Zemun, Thessaloniki and other places. He lived in Zemun from 1802 to 1803. The building is one of the oldest preserved houses and a testament to the urban development of the old center of Zemun.
