IBM 803

The IBM 803 was a check sorter company IBM . It was announced in 1949 and was supposed to replace the previous machine, the IBM 801 . He could record, endorse and sort submitted checks, tickets or other business documents . It was thus an important tool for the German banks after the Second World War to efficiently process the increasing number of check transactions. Accordingly, the device was widely used there and was used until the mid-1950s.

The IBM 803 was replaced by the IBM standard systems, the IBM 3600 or the IBM 4700 system, in 1960 and 1970. However, according to IBM, it did not take the machine off the market until 1981.
