IBM Cassette BASIC

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IBM Cassette BASIC was a version of the Microsoft BASIC programming language that the company IBM licensed for the IBM PC from Microsoft . The programming language was integrated directly in the BIOS ROM of the IBM PC. Cassette BASIC offered the user a preset user interface if there was no diskette in the computer or if the boot process of the computer did not find a bootable diskette. The name Cassette BASIC for the program came from the fact that compact cassettes and not floppy disks were normally used to store programs and data.
