iBoxx

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

iBoxx is the name of an index family for bond indices . The indices are intended to representatively document the development of the bond markets - for the regions Europe , USA and Asia . The iBoxx indices are operated by the International Index Company , a wholly-owned subsidiary of IHS Markit . They are often used for research and performance measurements. The iBoxx indices are calculated based on trading data from major banks for fixed income securities such as government bonds , government guaranteed bonds, secured bonds and corporate bonds .

A selection of the most liquid bonds from the iBoxx universe is made for the so-called iBoxx liquid indices. This is why these liquid indices are particularly popular as a basis for exchange-traded funds (ETF), exchange-traded derivatives and over-the- counter trading (OTC).
