ICIS is a price information service for trading in petrochemical products , energy and fertilizers . The company, headquartered in London, is part of Reed Business Information . In the energy sector, ICIS operates under the ICIS Heren brand .

Company history

ICIS was founded in 1980 by Humphrey Hinshelwood (1929-2001) in Paris as the Independent Chemical Information Service (ICIS), and in 1984 it merged with the London Oil Reports (LOR). For a short time, ICIS later stood for Independent Commodity Information Services , the merged company was abbreviated to ICIS-LOR.

In 1994 Reed Elsevier acquired ICIS-LOR, and incorporated the company into the Reed Business Information (RBI) division, to which ICIS u. a. Accuity, XpertHR and Reed Construction Data belong (as of 2013). The RBI division generated sales of GBP 547 million and a profit of GBP 107 million in the 2013 financial year.

According to the company (as of 2011), 98% of ICIS sales resulted from subscriptions , 90% of which were delivered online in terms of value. H. via the web, email, data feed or SMS. ICIS had 8,500 customers, with the largest contracts generating over $ 1 million in annual revenue.
