IEEE Solid State Circuit Society
The IEEE Solid-State Circuit Society SSCS for short is a sub-organization of the IEEE . It currently (as of February 2012) has over 9,000 members worldwide. Her main interest is in IC designs for all applications, their materials and connections. It publishes the Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC) and organizes the ISSCC conference .
history
The company's roots go back to the launch of the ISSCC conference in 1954. In 1966, the JSSC was first opened as an archive for the contributions presented at the conference. The directors of the conference and the editorial staff of the journal were soon installed as an advisory body to all IEEE organizations in the field of integrated circuits (IC).
The area of "ICs" grew strongly in the 1980s, so that two further conferences, the "VLSI Syposium" and the "Custom Integrated Circuits Conference" (CICC) were introduced.
In 1997, the advisory body became an independent IEEE company in order to gain more control over its own work.
The Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference (ASSCS) was launched in 2003 and the Solid-State Circuits Magazine in 2009.
Interests
The SSCS deals with the design, implementation and application of integrated circuits. The company is interested in all aspects related to ICs: design, testing and application of the components and subsystems, technology and circuit theory. Scientific, technical and industrial applications are also considered.
membership
Anyone interested in the subject can become a member of the SSCS. Membership is controlled directly via IEEE, but does not have to include IEEE membership. Members can organize themselves into “chapters” that can pursue specific activities.
Awards
The SSCS awards several awards: the "Donald O. Pederson Solid-State Circuits Award" for an outstanding contribution in the field of integrated circuits, the "JSSC Best Paper Award" for the best publication in the JSSC, the "Predoctoral Achievement Award" for Students who conduct studies tailored to the goals of the SSCS and have already achieved good study results and the "SSCS Outstanding Chapter Award" for the most outstanding chapter.
