Athletic career

player

When the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Chemie Leipzig was founded on August 16, 1950 as the successor to ZSG Industrie Leipzig , the 27-year-old midfielder moved from BSG Erich Zeigner Leipzig to the new BSG Chemie. While Hecker last played with BSG Erich Zeigner in the second-class state class Saxony, Chemie Leipzig had taken over the place of ZSG Industrie in the DS-Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . In the first year of its existence, BSG Chemie won the GDR championship in football in 1950/51. Hecker did not succeed in playing his way into the master eleven. With the exception of four appearances in top division games, he remained a reserve player. Hecker played his four league games between the 13th and 22nd matchday as a right winger or as a right defender. On November 26, 1950, he scored his only championship goal for Chemistry Leipzig with the winning goal in the match on the 15th match day activist Brieske Ost - BSG Chemie (1: 2). After Hecker had only been used as a midfielder on the first league matchday in the 1951/52 season, he left the BSG at the end of the season.

Hecker returned to his previous community, which now played as BSG Einheit Ost Leipzig in the GDR league introduced in 1950 . With her, Hecker rose to the league at the end of the 1952/53 season. In his third league season in 1953/54 Hecker was initially better able to assert himself. Up to the 14th day of the 30 round season he was used in eight league games as a right runner and scored one goal. In the second half of the season, Hecker was no longer in the league and ended his career as a competitive athlete in the summer of 1954.

Trainer

In later years, Hecker was a coach for various lower-class soccer teams. In 1958 he was the coach of the Leipzig BSG Motor Gohlis Nord in the third-class II. GDR league . With BSG Motor Stötteritz he rose in 1974 to the fourth class district class in Leipzig. Also in the district class, Hecker looked after the BSG rotation 1950 Leipzig in the 1977/78 season . With a 2nd place, his team just missed promotion to the third-class district league .
