history
In 1952 the Central Office for the Promotion of German Workmanship eV was established in Hanover , which from then on acted as the sponsor of the annual special shows at the Hanover Fair. For the first time there was then 1953 the "special show of form-compliant industrial products" at the Hanover trade fair . In 1959 the exhibition was programmatically renamed "Die gute Industrieform". The association Die gute Industrieform eV was founded in 1965. The chairman was Ernst Zietzschmann , who was the head of the Werkkunstschule Hannover at the time. In 2001 the iF International Design Forum GmbH was founded out of the association. Since then she has been organizing the competitions. In 2007 the association was merged with the Design Center Munich and is now based in Munich.
iF Award
The iF International Forum Design GmbH, based in Hanover, has been honoring designers with the iF Design Award since 1954 . Until 2014, the competition was divided into the individual brands iF product design award , iF packaging design award and iF communication design award . At the beginning of the registration phase for the 2015 competition, the individual brands were combined into one award. The submissions must, however, be assigned to one of the five disciplines Product, Communication, Packaging, Interior Architecture and Professional Concept. In 2014, from a total of around 4,600 submissions, the best 75 designs and design concepts were honored with the iF gold award.
The iF concept design award was launched in 2008 for design students and graduates . This honors 100 innovative design concepts every year.
The iF Public Value Award was presented for the first time in 2016 . This honors projects that “contribute to the solution of pressing questions of our time” “and thus advance society”.
