History and products

The company develops, produces and sells turbochargers . In order to meet future fuel consumption and exhaust emission regulations, the charging unit is increasingly being integrated into the engine management system. This requires synergies from engine and charging system development.

Almost all brands in the European automotive industry are among the company's customers.

IHI Charging Systems International GmbH has been based in Ichtershausen , Thuringia , since July 2019 . The Research and Development departments of Independent Aftermarket EMEA are located in Heidelberg .

The first production site was founded in 1995 as IHI Turbo Italy SpA and has been 100% owned by IHI Charging Systems International GmbH since 2001.

On April 22nd, 2009 a new production plant was opened in Ichtershausen . On February 28, 2019, the move of management, project management and sales to the Ichtershausen location was announced.
