The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (also IIT Kanpur or IITK ) is a technical university in Kanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh . As one of the Indian Institutes of Technology, it belongs to the best universities in the country.
history
It was founded in 1959. It has been on its campus since 1963. For the first decade after its inception, it benefited from the Kanpur Indo-American Program, which included leading American universities. The first computer science courses were offered as early as 1963.
