INAS soccer world championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The INAS World Football Championships (INAS World Football Championships) is the world championship competition in football for people with intellectual disabilities . It is held every four years following the men's FIFA World Cup, usually in the same country as it. The organizer is the International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS), which also organizes competitions for mentally handicapped people in other sports.

The medical prerequisite for participating in the World Cup is an intelligence quotient below 75 and a clearly limited ability to adapt to behavior. The impairment must have been assessed by an expert before the age of 18.

The winner on home soil in 1994 and 1998 was the Netherlands team. In 2002 (in Japan) England won, in 2006 (in Germany) and 2010 (in South Africa) the team from Saudi Arabia won (both competed in the final against the Netherlands).

The INAS soccer world championship 2014 , in which nine teams took part, took place from August 11th to 25th in the Brazilian city of São Paulo . The opening game was on August 13, the final on August 23 was won by the Saudi Arabia team 4-2 against South Africa, making them world champions for the third time in a row. The German selection was eliminated 3-0 against Poland at the end of the group stage.
