IRDC G11.11-0.11 is a dense, cold molecular cloud in the constellation Sagittarius . In infrared images it stands out as a dark, serpentine structure against the lighter background of the diffuse emission of the galactic level in the mid-infrared. The object is about 11,000 light years from Earth. The abbreviation IRDC stands for Infrared Dark Cloud (German infrared dark cloud).
