ISO 11240: 2012 is a standard from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the rules for
- the use and coded representation of units of measurement for the purpose of exchanging data on the quantitative properties of a human medicinal product
- the standardized and machine-readable documentation of the composition and strength of drugs
created as well as requirements
- of units of measurement for classification in international, metrological standards
- for the coded representation of units of measurement
names.
The standard describes rules and structures for the mutual mapping and translation of units of measurement in different languages and systems of units of measurement. The standard is based on the UCUM system .
This standard is limited to the representation of units of measure for the exchange of information between computer systems.
The standard was developed in the working group WG6 (Pharmacy) of the Technical Committee ISO TC 215 Health Informatics .
