ISO 12646

The ISO 12646 (printing technique - screens for color-representation of image content - parameters and viewing conditions) describes so-called soft-proofing , d. H. the conditions under which images are viewed on the computer monitor that are intended for printing and a very precise prediction of the print result can be made on the monitor image. The current version from 2004 only deals with CRT monitors , a revision of the standard that also includes flat screens is about to be adopted in autumn 2005.

The standard regulates in detail, among other things:

  • Luminance homogeneity across the entire screen
  • maximum luminance
  • colorimetric accuracy ( Delta E max. <10, Delta E medium <5)
  • Viewing angle and cone of vision
  • Surface gloss of the monitor
