ISO 15398

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ISO standard ISO 15398 regulates minimum requirements, proof of suitability and test principles for manhole covers made of plastic .

The full title of the standard is Specifications for thermoplastics covers and frames for manholes and inspection chambers used in non-traffic areas. Date of issue: December 1, 2012. The standard is available in English.

The restriction “non-traffic areas”, ie non-traffic areas (on private or commercial properties), is also the essential difference to the general European standard for manhole covers EN 124, which only applies to traffic areas.

Plastic manhole covers in accordance with ISO 15398 are intended for use on control and inspection shafts that are located in "pedestrian and light vehicular areas" - i.e. pedestrian zones (class A 15) and driving or parking areas with car traffic (max. Class B 125).

In addition, only manhole covers made of thermoplastics and with a maximum clearance of DN 600 are regulated.

The proof of suitability specified in ISO 15398 is based on the proof of pressure / loading from EN 124: 1994. In addition, however, extensive additional material-specific evidence must be provided - such as B. impact strength , cold fracture behavior, UV resistance of the plastics used. In addition, safety properties such as surface properties, slip resistance and accuracy of fit are defined.
