ISO 19111 Geographic Information - Spatial referencing by coordinates is a standard from the series ISO 191xx on standardization of geographic information and spatial data .
It has also been available as the German DIN EN ISO 19111 since October 2007 . A draft DIN EN ISO 19111-2 Geographic information - Coordinate reference systems - Part 2: Extension to parameterized values will appear with the November 2011 issue .
ISO 19111 defines a conceptual scheme for coordinate reference systems by clarifying the relationship between coordinate reference system, geodetic datum and coordinate system . In addition, the general conditions for coordinate operations (coordinate transformations and coordinate conversions) are presented. A system of attributes is set up with which coordinate reference systems and coordinate operations can be described.
Together with ISO 19107, the standard forms the basis for the spatial reference of geodata.
