The Ibbenbürener Volkszeitung ( IVZ ) is a daily newspaper for the northern region of Tecklenburger Land ( Steinfurt district ). The main editorial office is located in Ibbenbüren . The sold circulation is 17,711 copies, an increase of 4.5 percent since 1998.

history

The newspaper, which was founded by Theodor Rieping (1852-1930, bookbinder and businessman) and Franz Brockmeyer (editor until 1899) as a central mouthpiece for the Tecklenburg district, was first published on December 14, 1898 with a trial issue for advertising subscriptions. A year later, 41 merchants, craftsmen and farmers founded the Ibbenbürener Vereinsdruckerei GmbH (IVD) and initially published the daily newspaper three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). The price for a subscription was 75 pfennigs for a quarter. From the beginning, IVZ also had subscribers abroad, mainly in the Netherlands , but in 1902 it had two subscribers in the USA and one in Gabon .
