Band history
One of the founders of the band, Baghdad-born Basil Hammoudi , had previously played in the Kraftwerk predecessor band Organization together with Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider-Esleben and others. The drummer Andreas Hohmann can be heard on the Kraftwerk debut album " Kraftwerk ".
Ibliss' music can be described as jazzy Krautrock with a strong percussive touch . The quintet only released one long-playing record, the album "Supernova", recorded and produced by Conny Plank in Hamburg in 1972. The album contains four longer percussion-heavy instrumental tracks, the style of which was described on the cover sticker of the Spanish re-release from 2009 as “cosmic fusion” with “middle-eastern flavor”. Sales figures of the original publication are not known, the supplement to the re-publication mentions a few thousand copies. The group disbanded in 1973.
